Description: 

One of the sand artists at Circles in the Sand is Christine. She created Mary the Mermaid and brings her to life during the Ocean themed draws in Bandon, Oregon. This picture looks like it was taken with a drone, but it wasn't. The rules for drones on the beach had recently changed, but I wanted to get a complete picture of Mary from directly above, so what to do? I put on a wide angle lens, extended out my tripod as far as it would go, held the camera and tripod up as high as I could, and then used a remote release to take this picture.
