Artist Statement:
Creating a personal visual vocabulary to engage the viewer is key to my work. As an intermedia artist, abstraction itself speaks to a hidden language and unrevealed experiences.
Over the years, my style has shifted from mixed media work to installation, and now, in recent years, a return back to mixed media.
The intersection of painterly fragments, along with snippets of text or even found objects allows me to puzzle the pieces together, weaving shapes, texture, colors and line into unexpected compositions. When I paint, I do much the same, seeking strong connections and a melding of media within each piece. My intent is to allow the viewer to enter into a collective language and visual experience through their own imaginings.
