Introducing On View — Art Worth Seeing, Stories Worth Telling

There is always something happening.

A mural going up on a building you pass every day. A gallery opening you didn't hear about until it was over. A local artist whose work stops you cold — and whose name you didn't catch. A festival three towns over that transforms an entire weekend into something you'll talk about for months.

The art world is more alive around you than you probably realize. It just doesn't always make enough noise to find you.

That's what On View is for.

Once a month, we'll bring you the stories behind the art and the people making it — the human interest pieces that don't make the news but absolutely should.

We'll keep you ahead of events worth attending, festivals worth driving to, and receptions worth showing up for. And we'll introduce you to the artists whose work is hanging on walls right now, waiting for someone to stand in front of it and feel something.

On View is published by Nicart Agency — a fine art representation agency that believes art has the power to transform a person, but only in the moment of genuine connection. This newsletter exists to create more of those moments.

We'll also keep you informed about what Nicart's artists are doing and where you can see their work — but this newsletter was never going to be just about us. The art world is too interesting for that.

What to Expect

Every issue leads with a story. Something we found, someone we talked to, something happening in the community that deserves more attention than it's getting. From there we'll give you a curated look at what's coming up — events, receptions, festivals, markets — kept short and scannable so you can find what matters to you and go.

Question for Readers

What's the most memorable art experience you've ever had — and where did it happen?

It might have been a gallery in a town you were just passing through. A piece at a street fair that you still think about. A mural that made you stop walking. A reception where you met the artist and everything clicked.

Hit reply and tell us. The best stories we receive may just find their way into a future issue.

Hi Nicole, thanks for asking for responses. Right now, with an Opening May 1st, Shelby Harvey’s art is hung at the Cozy Chaos in Coos Bay, Oregon. Her work is comparable (done in fine point ink pen rather than finely engraved metal hatching) to the work of Durer, and the craftsmanship shown in the finely inked engravings of portraits on US currency. Thousands and thousands of fine, accurate lines showing the magnificent shapes and shading of realistic images in her work. I hope you get to see it. Her works deserves much more prominent attention.
