Three birds move across this piece in steady formation, wings lifted against a sky gone deep gold and blue with twilight — the kind of evening light that turns an ordinary coastal sighting into something worth stopping for. A full moon hangs low near the horizon, its reflection doubling in the water below, and the whole scene holds an unhurried, peaceful momentum, as if the birds have somewhere to be but no reason to rush getting there. "I wanted to capture the sense of deep twilight with water, sky, clouds, and birds," Pam Haunschild says — her interpretation of a sight common enough to witness from almost any stretch of coastline, rendered here with enough warmth and stillness to make it feel rare again.
